The beach
Porroig is located in the south of Ibiza, not far from Sant Jordi and the well-known Cala Jondal. The small, sheltered bay feels much quieter than the large beaches in the area. Due to its location on a rocky coastline, the place has more the character of a hidden anchorage than a classic swimming spot.
Access to the water is via small shoreline sections and rocky areas; a wide, fine sandy beach is not what defines this place. The water is usually clear and comparatively calm in the sheltered bay, although wind and boat traffic can of course affect the conditions. Overall, Porroig is more a place for a quick swim, anchoring and lingering than for long beach days.
The atmosphere is secluded and upscale, without much infrastructure directly on the shore. For families with small children, the bay is only partly suitable, as the entrance can be uneven depending on the spot. Anyone looking for peace, sea views and a less frequented setting will find a good place here; for comfort and classic beach services, other beaches in the south are more suitable.
