Two official languages are spoken on Ibiza: Spanish (Castellano) and Catalan, which is called eivissenc . Many place and street names are Catalan – for example Sant Antoni, Santa Eulària or Eivissa for Ibiza Town. Catalan culture has shaped the island since the conquest of 1235.

The Adlib fashion is Ibiza’s world-famous contribution to the world of fashion: airy, mostly white clothing made from natural fabrics with lace, embroidery and handcrafted details. The motto has been since the 1970s „Visti come vuoi ma con gusto“ – dress as you like, but with taste. Promoted by the Consell d'Eivissa, the brand stands for the island’s laid-back, elegant way of life.
Hippie markets & handicrafts
From the hippie era of the 1960s/70s come the Hippie markets that have remained to this day – and are now an integral part of island culture. The best known are Las Dalias in Sant Carles and Punta Arabí in Es Canar. Here you’ll find handmade jewelry, clothing, art, leather goods and antiques. They are as much a shopping experience as a cultural one, with live music and Mediterranean flair.
Festivals & traditions
Throughout the year, the villages celebrate their patron saint festivals (Festes) with traditional dress, folk dance (ball pagès) and music with drums and flute. Highlights include the celebrations around the patron saints of the municipalities as well as the Christmas and Easter customs. Art, music & island life
Ibiza has always attracted artists, musicians and creatives. Galleries in Dalt Vila, studios in the villages and the famous sunset ritual in Sant Antoni and at Cala d'Hort overlooking the rock Es Vedrà are part of the island’s cultural self-image – a way of life between tradition and cosmopolitan openness.
