The Portal de ses Taules forms the impressive main entrance to the fortified old town of Dalt Vila in Ibiza-Stadt. The stone gate is one of the island capital's best-known landmarks and is part of the historic city fortifications that were expanded in the 16th century to protect against attacks.
Particularly striking are the stone figures and coats of arms above the gate, which give the entrance a representative, almost monumental appearance. Anyone walking through the portal is not only entering the old town, but also a particularly well-preserved ensemble of narrow streets, walls and viewpoints. Even before the actual tour begins, the gate itself is a popular photo motif.
