The beach
Cala Mastella is located on Ibiza’s east coast, not far from Sant Carles de Peralta, and is one of the island’s smaller, more secluded coves. The cove is framed by pine trees and rocks and feels much quieter than many of Ibiza’s larger beaches. Thanks to its manageable size and sheltered location, it has a very natural character.
The beach is rather narrow and consists mostly of fine to coarse sand, with pebbles and rocks at the edges in places. The water is usually clear and drops off relatively quickly, which makes the cove pleasant for more experienced swimmers. When it’s windy, it can get rougher here than in fully sheltered coves.
Cala Mastella is especially suited to visitors looking for a small, authentic bathing cove and who don’t rely on extensive facilities. Families with small children should be cautious because of the limited space and the water becoming deep relatively quickly in places. The atmosphere is usually relaxed and close to nature, with the added attraction of the well-known fish restaurant El Bigotes nearby.
